About us

The primary purpose of Snowsport Wales is to serve the needs of its membership in developing skiing and snowboarding in Wales. Membership benefits of Snowsport Wales are not just for the racers, coaches and clubs – in fact, all participants can reap the reward immediately through the various membership benefits available. By joining Snowsport Wales, not only will you be kept informed of what is happening to the sport , you do so in the knowledge that your are contributing to the ongoing development of these enjoyable activities throughout Wales.

What else does Snowsport Wales do?

Snowsport Wales is the governing body for skiing and snowboarding in Wales, made up of its membership of Clubs, individuals, schools, and corporate support, and is recognised and supported by the Sports Council of Wales.

Snowsport Wales encourages and offers advice on the development of ski clubs, helping them to get the most from their sport, developing their coaches and liasing with other clubs and putting them in touch with local facilities

Snowsport Wales is a constituent member of British Ski & Snowboard which is the GB governing body for skiing and snowboarding in Great Britain, organising and training teams which compete Internationally at Olympic Games and World Championships.

Snowsport Wales organises and trains the Welsh National Ski Squad, choosing representative teams for international events both at home and abroad. We also organise regional and local development groups targeting talented young skiers. Snowsport Wales organises events at national, regional and school levels.

Snowsport Wales organises a coaching scheme which encompasses all grades of skiers from beginners to experts and racers. The scheme provides instructor training and assessment facilities, aiming to provide top quality coaches, race official courses to serve at the many standards of races run, and registers racers who wish to race in regional or national races, giving them access to seeding and international races.

Snowsport Wales is involved in an advisory capacity for the development of new artificial slopes involving both artificial, snow and grass slopes. Snowsport Wales is responsible for the management of Cardiff Ski & Snowboard Centre, a 100 metre artificial slope providing an all year round facility for all standards of skiers and snowboarders.
